Our Dedicated Orthodontist - Dr. Stephen Robirds

Dr. Stephen Robirds was born in Texas City, Texas in 1955, but spent most of his childhood and teen years in Houston. After graduating from Memorial High School in 1973, he was accepted to the University of Texas at Austin. As an undergraduate, Dr. Robirds was an active member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and a service organization known as the Texas Cowboys. Dr. Robirds earned his bachelor of arts in biochemistry in 1976.
 
Having completed his undergraduate education, Dr. Robirds then enrolled in Baylor College of Dentistry in groupshotDallas, obtaining his doctor of dental surgery degree in 1980. Eager to further in his dental education, he enrolled at the Emory University School of Dentistry, where he was granted a certificate in the specialty of Orthodontics in 1982. That same year, Dr. Robirds established his orthodontics practice. June of 2017 marked his 35th year of providing orthodontic and dental services to the Austin community.

Stephen Robirds, D.D.S. is actively involved in the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). The current and former leadership positions he has held in the AAO include:

  • Board Certified Orthodontist by the American Board of Orthodontics
  • Consultant to the Council on Orthodontic Healthcare
  • Delegate of the AAO House of Delegates
  • Member of the board of the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists (a regional constituent of the AAO)
  • Former President of the South Western Society of Orthodontists in 2009
  • Former president of the Texas Association of Orthodontists (the state component of the AAO)
  • Former president of the Capital Area Dental Society (the local component of the AAO)
  • Invisalign Preferred Provider


Dr. Robirds is also a former delegate of the Texas Dental Association House of Delegates. Additionally, he is a dedicated member of the Capital Area Orthodontic Study Club and the Texas Orthodontic Study Club (formerly the Texas Tweed Orthodontic Study Club), and a former president of the Young Men's Business League in Austin and  the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists.
Far from forgetting his years of community service as an undergraduate, Dr. Robirds continues to give back to the community in his adult life. He serves as a member of the advisory board to the Foundation for the Austin Sunshine Camps, an organization dedicated to assisting at-risk youth. He has also served on the board of the Baseball Booster Club at McCallum High School, where his son, Jordan, played baseball.

At the orthodontics practice of Dr. Stephen Robirds, we provide exceptional treatment in a warm, inviting atmosphere. We treat patients of all ages, from eight to eighty, tailoring our services to the unique orthodontic needs of each patient.

Dr. Robirds utilizes various orthodontic treatment techniques including aesthetic, straight wire, and interceptive (pre-teen) orthodontics. Our dental professionals can subtly straighten teeth using tooth colored porcelain brackets and Invisalign┬« orthodontics. Dr. Robirds also provides individualized treatment for patients suffering from TMJ disorder, combining orthodontics with orthognathic jaw surgery to treat jaw misalignment.

We currently have three convenient office locations: our main office in Austin and our two branch offices in Elgin and Giddings. We are a bilingual office. Hablamos Espa├▒ol!

Renee- Office Manager

Renee began her career in Orthodontics in 1995 and has  worked for Dr. Robirds off and on since then. She is knowledgeable in all aspects of the office and is a great compliment to Robirds Orthodontics as the office manager.  Renee was born and raised in Texas. She is an avid Texas Longhorn fan who enjoys the outdoors. You can find Renee running at Town Lake, boating, traveling with her husband and enjoying Austin's live music scene. "I love orthodontics because we create beautiful smiles that give our patients confidence that lasts a lifetime!"

 

 

 Roberta

Roberta - Clinical Director/Registered Dental Assistant

Robbie joined our team in the summer of 2009, bringing with her over many years of superb Orthodontic skills. Originally from Laredo TX., Robbie has called Austin home since 1996. She enjoys spending time with her daughter, Megan, who will be attending Texas State University in the fall of 2013. You can find Robbie running the trails of Town Lake or at one of her many favorite local venues.

 

 

Stephanie - Registered Dental Assistant/Lab Technician
 
Stephanie's dental career started in 1978 in Amarillo, Texas. She has worked in General Dentistry and Oral Surgery but considers Orthodontics her favorite! Born and raised in Lubbock, Texas she also lived in Ruidoso, New Mexico before finally claiming Austin as her home in 1996. Stephanie has been creating smiles with Robirds Orthodontics since 2001. Happily married for 38 years to her wonderful husband Billy, she has a daughter, Heidi and a son Ian. But what really makes Stephanie happy is her time spent with her grandsons Connor and Cooper. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, reading and yoga. Making her life complete is her four-legged children- Charley, Jaxon and Gizzy.

 

                                    Denise Rusch - Orthodontic Assistant/Registered     Dental Assistant

                                    Denise began work in our practice in 2014 and has been an invaluable part of it ever since! Being a California girl ( San Diego), she brings her West Coast smile and joy to the office every day. Patients certainly appreciate it. She has worked for both Pedodontists and Orthodontists and brings a wealth of experience in working with our kiddos. Her passion is catching that big Redfish down on the bays and estuaries of the Gulf Coast.
 

                                  Karah Falke - Orthodontic Assistant

                                   Karah began work with us in 2016 as an assistant in our Giddings branch office. She has worked for other orthodontists in Central Texas and we are so lucky to have her filling an important role in our Giddings office!
